NEW YORK, Sept 15 (Reuters) - The Senate Judiciary
Committee on Thursday approved four nominees to federal
judgeships, including three for the Southern District of New
York.
For seats on the Manhattan federal bench, the judiciary
committee approved Edgardo Ramos, currently a partner at law
firm Day Pitney; Andrew Carter, currently a U.S. magistrate
judge in Brooklyn; and Jesse Furman, currently a federal
prosecutor in Manhattan.
The committee also approved James Gilstrap to the bench in
the Eastern District of Texas.
The nominations will now move to the full Senate for
confirmation.
With the addition of these nominees, there are now 29
nominees awaiting consideration by the full Senate. The Senate
has confirmed just one judicial nominee, Bernice Donald of the
Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, since it returned from its
summer recess earlier this month.
The nominees were approved by voice vote.

one that is unopposed. In a voice vote, there is little
opposition.)
