Feb 3 (Reuters) - Real Estate partner Peter Koffler
has left Strook & Strook for Venable in New York. Ilene Heller
is also joining the Venable team, as of counsel in the firm's
food and drug law practice. She was previously associate
director of legal affairs at the Center for Science in the
Public Interest.
Steven Smith, lately of Dechert, has moved to Edwards
Wildman Palmer as a partner in New York to practice in the
firm's restructuring and insolvency department. Across the pond,
Edwards Wildman Palmer UK has added Geoff Mendelsohn as a
partner in the intellectual property department in London. He
was previously with the UK's Nabarro. Chris Finney has also
joined that office as a partner. He will practice in the
insurance and reinsurance department and joined from Wragge &
Co.
White collar and securities enforcement attorney Neil
Eggleston has moved to Kirkland & Ellis from Debevoise &
Plimpton. He resides in the firm's Washington, D.C. office and
is a partner.
Former Marin County deputy district attorney Thomas Brown
has joined Foley & Lardner as of counsel in San Francisco. He
will practice with the firm's government enforcement, compliance
and white collar defense practice group.
In Costa Mesa, California, Baker Hostetler has brought
onboard Scott Feldmann as a partner its intellectual property
group. Feldmann was previously with Crowell & Moring.
The Miami office of DLA Piper has tapped McDermott, Will &
Emery for five health care lawyers, including partners Joshua
Kaye and Michael Austin, of counsel Adam Rogers, and two
associates.
In firm management news, Thompson & Knight has named Emily
Parker as managing partner of the firm, effective February
15. She replaces Jeffrey Zlotky, who has led the Dallas-based
firm since 2009.
In London, Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has tapped
Stephanie Bates, the former co-head of Mayer's Brown's London
capital markets group, as a partner. Also in London, Casey
Cooper is leaving Baker Botts to join Covington & Burling as a
partner; he will practice in the firm's global anti-corruption
and white-collar practices.
Jones Day has opened an office in Dusseldorf, Germany; its
attorneys will focus on corporate matters, M&A, private equity
and trust and patent litigation. Jones Day's other German
offices are in Frankfurt and Munich.
K&L Gates has combined with Italian firm Marini Salsi
Picciau Studio Legale to create a K&L Gates office in Milan,
which is its eighth in Europe and 41st worldwide.
