CAREER TRACKER: Lawyers on the move - Jan. 10, 2013

Michael O'Brien has left WilmerHale to join Sidley Austin in New York. He will be a partner in Sidley's mergers and acquisitions and private equity group.

Pryor Cashman has hired Avram Morell as partner in its immigration group in New York. Most recently, Morell was special immigration counsel at Proskauer Rose.

Schiff Hardin has two new intellectual property partners. In New York Laura Brutman joins the firm from Dickstein Shapiro, and in San Francisco Duane Mathiowetz moves over from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Nixon Peabody has also hired two new attorneys, one on each coast. In Rochester, New York, Katherine Baynes comes in as counsel from DLA Piper. Lisalee Wells, who will also be counsel, moves to the firm's Los Angeles office from Fulbright & Jaworski.

Katten Muchin Rosenman has added a new partner in its entertainment and media practice in Los Angeles. Fred Bernstein moves over from his post as president of Columbia Tri-Star Motion Picture Companies.

In Boston, Fish & Richardson has taken on two attorneys from Goodwin Procter for its intellectual property litigation group. R. David Hosp and Mark Puzella will be principals with the firm.

Former assistant U.S. attorney Greg Deis, who was with the criminal division in the Northern District of Illinois, has rejoined Mayer Brown in Chicago. He will be partner in the litigation and dispute resolution practice and in the white collar defense and compliance group.

Monica Wilkinson has left her post as senior vice president and assistant general counsel at Detroit Medical Center to join Dykema as senior counsel. She will be partner in the firm's healthcare practice group and be based in Detroit.

In Europe, White & Case has added two new partners. In London, Rebecca Campbell joins the mining and metals group after being in-house counsel for BHP Billiton, a global resources company. Celine Domenget-Morin will work in the restructuring and insolvency practice in Paris. She was most recently a financial analyst at Lazard.

K&L Gates has a new corporate partner in its Sydney, Australia, office. Andrea Beatty moves over from Australian firm HWL Ebsworth.

Covington & Burling has opened a new office in Shanghai, its third office in Asia, which will be led by partners Eva Wang and Weishi Li.
